When Pittsburgh was chosen again fro the again international spotlight as the North American Host of World Environment Day (WED), the NPC became an official collaborator for the day-long, “Water Matters! Global Water Conference” on June 3, and sent a delegation to report back the highlights to our civically-engaged young professional network to promote education and engagement in the ongoing discussion about how water-related issues affect our region and the globe …
The result? Liquid Knowledge!
.
The concept was simple – good info, good people, good venue, good times.
This HUB event was the product of a fruitful collaboration between our member groups – Global Solutions Pittsburgh, the Green Building Alliance and the Pittsburgh World Environment Day partnership (represented by Sustainable Pittsburgh) – that demonstrated our community’s commitment to the future of our region via our most precious resource.
Be sure to download our resources handout to learn more and see what you can do.
Why is it critical that the young professional community be both educated about and engaged with water issues?
Because water does matter – to biodiversity, health, the economy, equity, energy, peace, etc.
– and our region’s bountiful water resources (along with ample challenges and opportunities
associated with them) position (instead of positioned) us to lead the way on global water
issues.
That’s our future! And we’re the future leaders! So we have to be involved.
