The New Pittsburgh Collaborative (NPC) is a collective of diverse, civically-engaged, young-minded organizations committed to the future of the Pittsburgh region. It supports the vitality and effectiveness of its member organizations while embodying the spirit of collaboration necessary for successful regional development.
Since its founding in 2002, with support from Elsie Hillman, The Sprout Fund and Councilman Bill Peduto, the NPC has provided opportunities for its membership to leverage their resources for regional gain.
As an active coalition, the NPC enables a more cohesive young adult community that is aware of and actively engaged in regional issues, and therefore better prepared for professional and community leadership.
Our events and mailing list are open to anyone, but we maintain a particular connection with NPC delegates – our main points of contact at each member organization. See our member list.
Unique to the region, the NPC is dedicated to:
- Being a central point of access and communication to and for young adult and like-minded organizations across 10 counties. This includes being an efficient way for community leaders/regional development organizations to solicit participation, input or partnership regarding regional issues.
- Promoting and supporting member organizations to the region-at-large and leveraging resources by facilitating partnerships among them.
- Providing regional leadership opportunities, experiences and networking connections to young adults to better affect regional change and progress.
By doing so, the NPC continually builds and strengthens a broad, dynamic network that connects young professionals to community and regional development initiatives throughout southwestern Pennsylvania.
So, how do we do it?
- Twice-monthly e-blasts– A communications medium to promote member events/announcements and spread the word about Pittsburgh’s dynamic array of young-minded happenings.
- Social media – Via Facebook and Twitter, we further promote our member organizations and reach a broader audience.
- HUB events and other face-to-face meetings – a broad range of collaborative events support organizational partnerships and interpersonal connections
